"Unlike many serialized webcomics, The Secret Knots is an anthology series. I try to explore different genres and themes with each comic, though you could say there’s a loose connection between some of the subjects I’m interested in. Things like doppelgängers, cursed art, and vanishing characters, for instance. Themes like these sometimes take the stories into the territory of soft horror, I guess, but it’s also important for me to achieve some feeling of surprise or wonder. A common reaction I’ve seen to my comics is some kind of undefinable emotion: “I’m feeling something, I just don’t know what it is exactly”. I actually like those kinds of comments. In times when it’s really hard to maintain any kind of ambiguity in storytelling, I feel privileged to have this platform for experimentation, and having readers react positively to the weird places the latest story may take them."
